Eric Peeples is a neonatologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Children’s Nebraska. Dr. Peeples is also the director of the neonatal neuroscience program at Children’s, and he heads the Newborn Brain Injury lab at the University of Nebraska Medical Center which performs bench and translational research attempting to improve understanding of and potentially modulate the genetic and metabolic expression of the brain during and after hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy. He has published over 60 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 3 book chapters in the field and is one of the co-editors for the recently published Handbook of Neonatal Neurology. In addition, Dr. Peeples has been leading regional clinical programs to standardize brain-focused neonatal care in the midwestern United States, including developing and leading a regional registry for infants at risk for neonatal encephalopathy.
