I am Professor of Perinatal and Developmental Neurology at the University of Southampton and honorary Consultant Paediatric Neurologist at Southampton Children’s Hospital, UK, where I lead the multidisciplinary perinatal and developmental neurology service. My research focus is on brain development and neurodevelopmental outcomes in infants with developmental brain abnormalities or perinatal brain injury, and we use advanced MR imaging, EEG, fNIRs, and clinical assessments to examine neural correlates of long-term outcomes and developmental trajectories. Our research has a strong translational focus of implementing research findings into clinical practice. Currently, I serve as Chair of the British Paediatric Neurology Association (BPNA) Fetal and Neonatal Neurology Special Interest Group, where we have the aim to improve training in fetal and neonatal neurology for medical and allied health professionals.
