Alexa K. Craig, MD, MS, MSc

Alexa K. Craig, M.D., M.Sc., M.S., is the Vice Chair of Research at Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, where she also serves as Division Director of Pediatric Neurology and Co-Director of the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital Scholar’s Academy. She is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Tufts University School of Medicine. She is board certified in Child Neurology, Epilepsy and most recently, Neonatal Neurocritical Care. Dr. Craig leads efforts to expand access to evidence-based care across rural and resource-limited settings.

Her research focuses on improving outcomes for infants with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy through the use of therapeutic hypothermia, telehealth-supported neonatal encephalopathy consultation, and family-centered innovations such as facilitating safe parent-infant holding during cooling. Her work also integrates implementation science to evaluate and optimize new models of neonatal care, with an emphasis on equity, parent engagement, and training the next generation of clinician-scientists. Dr. Craig is the principal investigator on multiple clinical and health services research projects and an active mentor to early-stage investigators in pediatrics and child neurology.
